The CIMUSET Award committee has granted special recognition to the book “Race and Sociocultural Inclusion in Science Communication – Innovation, Decolonisation, and Transformation”. Edited by Elizabeth Rasekoala, the book was praised for its groundbreaking approach to addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field of science communication.

In their statement, the committee highlighted the book’s significance in elevating marginalized voices, especially from the Global South. The book’s diverse contributions from practitioners, researchers, and scholars worldwide provide a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities in science communication. The committee also commended the book for challenging Eurocentric perspectives and advocating for more balanced, Afrocentric, and non-Western worldviews.

The CIMUSET committee emphasized that the book is a “visionary and impactful work” that addresses pressing issues in the field and provides a valuable roadmap for creating a more equitable global narrative in science communication.
