How to Apply?
Eligibility
Nominated projects eligible for the CIMUSET Award must be less than 2 years old at the time of the nomination. They may cover all areas of museums and collections practice, including exhibition, education, conservation, research, management, new business models, design and architecture, art, ethics, service to the public, and strategic planning.
All museums, collections and universities working with the preservation of the cultural heritage within science and technology and dissemination of knowledge within these fields are eligible regardless of their location, type, or size. They do not have to be CIMUSET members.
Criteria
Projects eligible for nomination should effectively demonstrate and describe their alignment with the following criteria:
- Strategically incorporates and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
- Ensures sustainability across social, economic, environmental, and cultural dimensions.
- Is conceived and executed in collaboration with diverse institutions and/or citizens, representing a broad spectrum of knowledge and competencies.
- Innovative strategies implemented to engage with marginalized and diverse communities, and fosters inclusivity and accessibility.
- Empowers citizens and local communities, encouraging novel and transformative engagements with science and technology.
- Inspired significant intuitional and organizational changes, advancements, or improvements.
- Quantifiable and qualitative impact on the target audience, community, or relevant stakeholders, emphasizing the tangible outcomes and benefits.
- Original, innovativein approaches, or methodologies that contribute to the advancement of knowledge or practice in the field.
- Aligns and embodies the principles outlined in the new museum definition.
How to apply
The nominator must fill out CIMUSET Award Application Form.
The deadline was on the 30th of April 2024. The winner will be announced during the CIMUSET Conference in Vienna in September.
Evaluation of the nominations
The nominated projects will be assessed by an evaluation committee consisting of up to eight members. The committee comprises members from the CIMUSET board, members from a science and technology museum or a science centre, and members from outside the museum sector. The committee will evaluate the nominations in accordance with the criteria.
The committee’s decision is final; no explanations will be given in discussions or correspondence.
Up to four projects will be nominated for the CIMUSET Award and announced two months before the announcement of the winning project, which will be revealed during the annual CIMUSET general conference.
